Thailand is a beautiful and versatile country with many facets: pristine
beaches, cool mountains and the thriving capital of Bangkok. The people, mostly Buddhists, are known for their friendliness. In tourist areas,
Europeans can easily communicate in English. Large private schools enable
students to go to prestigious Thai Universities or to gain admittance to
European
Universities. Private hospitals offer a high standard of medical
service, and many of their doctors have been trained ab road. Thailand is
one of the top emerging nations in the Asian zone, with a bright economic
future. Aside from the delicious Thai cuisine, there are numerous European
restaurants in big cities and in tourist areas. Popular European beers
(such as Heineken)
can be found on almost all menus. Supermarkets and department stores offer
European products which are valued for their high quality. Frosty nights
are unknown. Thailand is generally a tropical climate, although the
mountainous north is milder than the south.
For those who don't want to live on the coast, there are lovely inland
lakes and charming cities like Chiang Mai which can make a very nice home.
As a retirement destination, Thailand is ideal. Even with a small pension,
one can live by princely standards. Friendly and caring household
personnel can be secured on a small budget. Especially for those
considering permanent residency in Thailand, the government has created
special laws and incentives. It should be mentioned that Phuket is booming
in a fashion similar to Majorca and the Canary Islands. The land and construction prices in attractive zones rise rapidly; in these areas, most
of the buildings are luxury and highclass in a western, modern way.
